What is ABA?

Applied behaviour analysis (ABA) is a scientific and evidence-based approach that helps individuals learn and develop skills to improve and manage their behaviours. While individuals of any age can benefit from ABA therapy, it’s an excellent early intervention approach. ABA therapy prepare individuals for life. It caters communication and social interactions, that help them become more independent.

How does ABA work?

ABA uses evidence-based, individualized techniques to address behaviours

Can be tailored to meet the needs of each unique person

Program focuses on different locations - at home, at school, and in the community

Teaches skills that are useful in everyday life

Can involve one-to-one teaching or group instruction

Treatment goals can include many different skill areas, like:

The instruction plan breaks down each of these skills into small, concrete steps. The instructors teach each step one by one, from simple to more complex ones. The BCBA and therapists measure progress by collecting data in each training session. Data helps to monitor the person’s progress toward goals on an ongoing basis. The behaviour analyst regularly meets with family members and program staff to review information about progress. They can then plan and adjust teaching plans and goals as and when needed.

Data -Driven Approach ensures that the interventions are continuously modified to meet the changing needs and goals of an individual.

Family Involvement is essential in the process, as they learn to implement ABA techniques in the day-to-day life creating a supportive environment for the learner’s overall development.

Generalization of skills helps learners to apply what they have learned to various settings, people and location promoting independence and long-term success.

Collaborating with other professionals, such as speech therapists, occupational therapist and educators to provide a comprehensive and holistic approach to the individual’s development.

It’s a manifested approach that empowers individuals and their families to overcome challenges, maximize their abilities and embrace a socially meaningful outcome.

Program Roadmap

Comprehensive Assessment

It begins with a thorough assessment of the individual’s current abilities and challenges. It serves as the basis for developing Individualised treatment plans tailored to the learners’ unique needs.

ABA program focus on developing a wide array of skills ranging from communication and language abilities to social interactions and tolerating skills. Acquiring these skills are integral part of an individual’s overall development to improve the quality of life.

Maintenance refers to the ability to retain a previously acquired skill and perform it once the applied behaviour procedures have been removed. In other words, after an instructor fades all prompts and reinforcements, does the behaviour continue to occur?

Once the skills are maintained, we must now generalize that skill to different settings, locations and people. It doesn’t do us, or the client, any good if they are only able to perform the skill in certain environments but not able to exhibit the same skill in another environment. Training loosely, Multiple Exemplars and Natural contingencies are some of the many ways to teach generalization.

Parent training is an important factor in enhancing treatment outcomes. Parents play a crucial role in the development and progress of their children. Applied Behavioural Analysis (ABA), empowers parents by providing them with the necessary tools and techniques to support their child’s growth and well-being. When parents actively participate in their child’s training program, it fosters a collaborative approach between instructors, parents, and the child. Parent involvement ensures that the strategies and techniques used in training can be effectively carried over to the home environment, promoting continuity and consistency.

For those individuals who no longer need intensive one on one or Center-based ABA services we provide parent consultation-by which the parents are able to consult with the BCBA on a set schedule or on an as needed basis
